Positive
Voice celebrates “20th World AIDS Day 007” event by organizing “Lok
Dohari Musical Awareness Program” in association with National Center
for AIDS and STI Control (NCASC) through GFATM targeting especially the
youth's population.
This year the theme
was “Take the lead in fighting HIV/AIDS in Nepal”. The event started
with a dance followed by a drama about existing social discrimination on
PLHAs. Accordingly,
musical choir of Riya’s Lalitpur flamed the event by delivering a folk
song relating with HIV and AIDS which ran about 35 minutes live.
The crowd were cherishing
and clapping hands together with the music. The coverage of this song
was fantastically scripted and composed by using traditional rhythm and
typical Nepali words. It was a fine piece of art.
Positive
Voice also places an information desk for general information about
HIV/AIDS and distributed IEC materials, T-shirts and condoms among the
audience. The participation of teenagers and adults was more than
estimated however, the female number was few.
Like wise “Candle Light Celebration” was organized in evening at Ashok
Stupa, Lagankhel by the PV’s members. The
involvement of local people enriched the atmosphere of the stupa and
made the ceremony.
